Benevolent Assistance

In additional to financal assistance available to members with cancer, the Order of the Eastern Star, in California, provides other assistance for its members.

StarCARE

StarCARE exists to serve as a resource to assist California members and other eligible persons in need of assistance from California Eastern Star Charities, funds, and programs. StarCARE personnel investigate requests for assistance and refer the requester to the appropriate resources within Eastern Star, to other charities, or to community resources. It provides no direct financial assistance, but is to be used as a resource to find any assistance that may be available.

Benevolent Fund

The Benevolent Fund was established to aid in the relief of needy members in good standing, of the Order of the Eastern Star, in California chapters, and members of their immediate families, who are also members of their household, or who are dependent upon them for support. It is further provided that in order to receive aid an Eastern Star member must be a member of the Grand Chapter of California for a period of not less than five years.

Application for the Benevolent Fund may be made with your Chapter’s Worthy Matron or Secretary, or by contacting our StarCARE office.

Disaster

In the event of a natural disaster, affected members can receive assistance from the Disaster Fund. Application for assistance is usually made through the Benevolent Fund, but inquries can be made through StarCARE or the Grand Chapter office.

All monies received by Grand Chapter for aid to members in the event of an earthquake, flood or other catastrophic disaster, and not used for said disaster aid, shall be placed in a separate disaster fund to be immediately available for aid to members, in the event of subsequent catastrophic disasters. — Constitution and Laws, Section 410.
