Cancer Assistance
The Order of the Eastern Star, in California, provides its members with assistance when they or one of their dependents has been diagnosed with cancer. This asssitance comes from two funds of the California Eastern Star Foundation.
Application for the J. Clifford Lee Memorial Cancer Fund and the Marguerite Rennie Memorial Fund, may be made with your chapter’s Worthy Matron or Secretary, or by contacting our Cancer Assistance Chairman, Mary Kay Bowser, by email or call her at: 916-331-8936.
Application can also be made through StarCare or the Grand Chapter office. The application is also avaliable on the website.Both of these funds are available to cancer patients, however only one fund may be applied for at a time. Once funds from either have been exhausted, the second fund may be used, contingent upon approval of the Cancer Assistance Chairman.
J. Clifford Lee Memorial Cancer Fund
Aid from this fund shall be given to members in good standing of the Order in California Chapters, and/or members of their immediate families, who are also members of their household, or dependent upon them for support, who are cancer patients and in need of financial assistance. — Constitution and Laws, Sec. 89A
Marguerite Rennie Memorial Fund
Aid from this fund shall be given to members in good standing of the Order in California Chapters, and/or members of their immediate families, who are also members of their household, or dependent upon them for support, who are cancer patients and in need of financial aid. It is further provided that in order to receive aid, the member must be a member of the Grand Chapter of California for a period of not less than two years. — Constitution and Laws, Sec. 89B
