About Mary Dixon
Outreach Care Manager
I began my career as a nurse at the age of 16. I have had a wide variety of experiences from Maternity, Recovery Room, Emergency Room, Oncology to Critical Care and clinic nursing. Some of the things that I have learned in 41 years of Nursing such attention to detail, being precise, the joy of learning new things and always thinking ahead valuable as I start my new adventure. When I working in Critical Care I found that I needed to acquire a balance to the serious nature of my work and also and also find my sense of humor, so I became a clown. My course in Faith Community Nursing has helped me learn to advocate for health care rather than being a bedside nurse.
At a time when I thought I was going to “retire” I find myself back in the workforce. I am pleased to now be part of Eastern Star Senior Outreach Services. My title is officially Outreach Care Manager and my territory is to cover the northern part of the state. I have been Worthy Matron 4 times, in 1993, 1999, 2006 and 2010. I served as Deputy Grand Matron in ’03 and am now enjoying being Grand Representative to New Brunswick, Canada. Though I have new responsibilities as Outreach Care Manager for the Northern Region I will still carry on my volunteer service as the J Clifford Lee chairperson and look forward to serving our members in a new way as Care Manager.
I look forward to attending many Chapter meetings as Grand Representative and I will be bringing you information on all of the Eastern Star Outreach Services.
