Grand Secretary, Maryann Barrios        gsecretary@oescal.org

Maryann is a member of Hollywood Chapter No. 21 in South Pasadena, having been initiated in 1999, and serving as Worthy Matron in 2004. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and earned her CPA certificate in 1978. Her working background includes over 25 years in the finance area of the health care industry before being elected to serve as Grand Secretary in 2006. As Grand Secretary, she oversees a staff of 5 and works closely with the Controller, Chapter Secretaries, various state Committees, other Grand Jurisdictions and our California members.

Controller, Russ Kleber            controller@oescal.org

Russ is a 15-year member and Past Patron of Conejo Valley Chapter and a Past Master of Conejo Valley Lodge. He received his degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and taught Accounting Principles at the college level for four years. When he joined the office as its Controller in 1999, he brought many years of experience in both governmental and private budgeting and finance, as well as banking and investment accounting to the Grand Chapter. He works closely with the Finance Committee, the Boards of Trustees for the Eastern Star Homes and the California Eastern Star Foundation.

Assistant to the Grand Secretary, Pamela Sandstrom     adminmail@oescal.org

Pamela is currently a member of West Covina Chapter No. 202, and has been a member of the Order in California for over 33 years. She has served her Chapter in various offices, including Worthy Matron in 2001. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Redlands, and had 20 years experience in serving our elderly community prior to joining the Grand Chapter Office in 2006. She works with Chapter Secretaries and members (both current and prospective), and assists the accountant in recording and processing money that is sent to the Grand Chapter for its various charities and other items.

Accountant, Eva Paulson          bookkeeping@oescal.org

Eva, who joined the Grand Chapter Office in 2003, was initiated into Whittier Star Chapter No. 144 in 2005 and has served her Chapter as Marshal. She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Business Administration and Computer Science from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, and an MBA with honors from the University of A. Mickiewicz Poznan, Poland. She has 39 years of experience in working in three different countries for government agencies, and in various businesses, both in the profit and non-profit sectors. Eva is responsible for all direct banking, assures that Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts are recorded properly by our various entities, tracks fixed assets, and fields most accounting inquiries from vendors and Chapters.

Membership Supervisor, Nell Marie Forsey      membership@oescal.org

Nell Marie has been a member of Eastern Star in California for 41 years, serving in many offices over that time, including Grand Representative of the District of Columbia in California. She served our Country with distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1993. In 1995, she joined the Grand Chapter office staff when it was located in San Francisco, and moved with the office to in 1999, where she is in charge of all things relating to membership information.

Information Technology/Supplies, James Hannum          supply@oescal.org

James, a Past Master of Montebello-Whittier Lodge, has been a member of Yorba Linda Chapter No. 347 since 1991. He served as Worthy Patron in 1995 & 2009, and is currently Secretary. His service at the Grand Chapter Office began in 2000. In addition to processing and filling supply and award orders, he maintains the office computer network, and designs membership reports and most of the forms provided by the office. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton.

Accounting Clerk/Webmaster/Receptionist, Katie Streeter   webmaster@oescal.org

Katie joined Ami Tai Chapter No. 147 11 years ago, and served as Worthy Matron in 2004. She is currently serving as Conductress for her chapter. She was hired in 2006 as a receptionist, but has expanded her duties to include much of the Accounts Payable duties. She is also the Web Master for the web site, she helps James with the distribution of supplies, and is great at designing our roster ads, flyers, and other such duties. She is currently attending Fullerton Community College, majoring in Biology and Theater.
