When we reported to Donna on Saturday we had 20 people present sorting 76 bags of items to be delivered to the Santa Cruz SPCA. We were pleased to have our Grand Sentinel Bill Robertson and his wife Denise present, Past Grand Matron Sue Bishop and her husband JR, and the District Inspector of the 575th Masonic District George Turegano (who is serving as WP of Santa Cruz Redwoods Chapter). We piled everything into Sue and JR Bishop's pickup, after a chili dog BBQ, and headed for the temporary shelter. The Santa Cruz facility suffered a fire and is now using a temporary facility a few miles away. As we were on the way we received a call from Janet Allard WM of La Posa Chapter in King City. We met her at the SPCA and to our amazement Jan had driven all the way from King City with another FULL pickup of items! This little bitty Chapter had collected as much as the rest of the Monterey Bay put together! All in all, we delivered over 300 pounds of food to an EMPTY food shed, towels, blankets, toys, shredded paper, crates and carriers that will be much appreciated by many precious animals in need. We also had 10 bags of items for the Grey Bears which is just across the street from the SPCA! Bags for SPCA ... 150 Bags for Grey Bears ... 10
